AsteriskNOW 1.5 beta available
Submitted by qwell on 13 October 2008 - 12:58pm.

For the last few months, we've been working on an updated version of AsteriskNOW. What's changed in AsteriskNOW 1.5? Everything!

We switched the core Linux distribution to CentOS from rPath (which uses yum rather than conary).
We switched the default GUI to FreePBX from AsteriskGUI (though it is still available if you'd like to continue using it).
We also switched to DAHDI from Zaptel.

When will it be available for public beta? Immediately!

For more information, please see http://blogs.digium.com/2008/10/13/asterisknow-15-beta-available-more-coming-soon/ - if you want to jump right to the download page, go to http://www.asterisknow.org/downloads/

AsteriskNOW 1.0.2 Available!!
Submitted by j4m3s on 21 March 2008 - 2:03pm.

News:

Minor updates and tweaks are available in this release. We're still working out some of the GUI defaults to work with various configurations. Please bear with us :/ If you encounter something that doesn't look right, please report it in the AsteriskNOW section of the forums here. Thanks for your continued support!!

Known Issues :(

The current ISO for 32bit contains anaconda-templates for x86_64, this is bad. However, a new ISO is currently being uploaded 1.0.2.1 for 32bit. There's no difference between this and the previous version, other than the anaconda-templates for installation are for x86. Sorry....

...and the man finally stifles me, I think I should just let you all know there's an AsteriskNOW Release on asterisknow.digium.com@*now:1. So if you have an existing install of AsteriskNOW BetaX then you can update to this release by using the following commands:

1. Update conary:
# conary update conary

2. Update distro-release, this should install /etc/conary/config.d/conaryrc.AsteriskNOW which will have config options for seeing the Digium conary mirror
# conary update distro-release

3. Verify you have the correct configuration options
# conary config | grep -e 'repositoryMap'

AsteriskNOW + Service Providers + You.
Submitted by bkruse on 27 August 2007 - 2:43pm.

Hey Guys, bkruse here.

I know there has not been a ton of activity on the public svn repository
for the asterisk GUI. This is because we have been hard at work fixing
internal bugs, and new features for the Asterisk Appliance release.
I have currently just added a cool feature, that was exclusive to the Appliance
to our AsteriskNOW had that open source Branch:
Multiple Service Providers.
Now, since revision 1462,

You can seamlessly integrate with some of VOIPs biggest names.
Including: Bandwidth.com, VoilaIP, SimpleSignal, Voicepulse and NGT.

AsteriskNOW+E1 vs Trixbox+E1 (1-0)
Submitted by sipcensey on 10 March 2007 - 6:19pm.

I wanted to implement a project like this:

PSTN/E1(PRI/GSM) Bluetower Gateway1/Asterisk Server/E1ALCATEL 4200

I spent 4 days trying to make it with Trixbox (I wished it works with trixbox because of the number of features bundled with it) but all I got working was having the LEDs on the two E1/T1 cards turn green.

All seemed to be ok, but i couldn't pass calls from pstn to Trixbox nor from Alcatel 4200 to Trixbox.

I finally took another HDD (because I want to later debug the probe with trixbox in the first HDD) and downloaded AsteriskNOW (it took almost 2 hours) then i burned it on a CD (10 min) and i installed it on the new HDD (45 to 50 min).
